College Educated Immigrants

There are a great number of immigrants who are college-educated and or are well trained in a particular field of expertise. They have left businesses, in some cases political positions in their native countries, lowered their expectations, and have taken lower paying jobs, though they are capable of so much more. As Martinez states so eloquently, “Their lives and livelihoods were irretrievable, as were their social status and reputations.” The fact is that these individuals do have something to contribute and a hard lesson that must be learned is that starting a new life does come at a price. When speaking of self-actualized individuals, Maslow states, “They can accept their own human nature in the stoic style, with all its shortcomings…” What do you think?
