Chickens naturally go inside to roost when it is getting dark. Just set the thing to close the door at around the time when it gets fairly dark outside.

If not, couldn’t you just close the door when heard the chickens inside? 
I assume this is triggered by a wall timer?
Curious, Did you train your chickens to be inside at a specific time? lol
And what if you put them in early? Do you stand there guarding the door till it closes? lol… Sorry but it is just for fun right?
