Michael C. Ford is the first poet to record at the Hen House. He has recited his poems with music accompaniment on two different projects thus far. The first had John Densmore, a Hen House veteran, drumming while Ford read a poem about the history of the American drummer. Ford has a wonderfully expressive voice and a great delivery. His writing is intelligent and very witty. Ford often draws from history and politics as subject matter. Ford’s work was recognized in 1998 when he was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and in 1986 when he was nominated for a Grammy. His latest project at The Hen House has him reciting one of his poems with a full band. Also, check out Ford’s poetry on the poetry/lyrics page.-Hen House Studios is a record label and documentary film company in Venice, California. First made famous by their unique concept to record musicians for free in exchange for the right to film them, Hen House has grown to a premiere, web based multi media company featuring music videos, CDs, DVDs, and podcasts all produced by the studio.

    Gary Patterson got …
Gary Patterson got the truth from Gerald Pitts that Jim was alive but then I assume he hooked up with Manzarek to screw over Jim. Densmore just sued Manzarek and Kriger for 5 million so PLEASE tell Coast to Coast not to call them DOORS. Gary Patterson is one shady native Tennessean; Simon and Shuster should be contacted for the lies he and Manzarek the jackass are perpetrating. Jackass Central. How about your friendship with Danny Sugarman Ray… for God’s sake talk about that.

    Man as a drummer …
Man as a drummer and as a guy who likes to write, this is so cool. I love history and poetry, and man it is so cool that they did this. This just proves that Densmore is still relevant today, not just as the drummer for The Doors either.
